We are SAYAR & GARIBEH

Stephanie Sayar & Charbel Garibeh are Lebanese-based designers, currently living between Paris and Beirut, that work together as a team, to complete projects where each have individual opinions and personal touches, combined together to create fictional and functional pieces.
Their approach to design encompasses their combined vision of naïve and experimental design with a dash of humor using new materials and forms. They create their identity through everyday life experiences, creating bridges between local craftsmanship, artisanal scene and design.
Their pieces are hybrid, they collaborate with artisans using traditional techniques as well as they create their own pieces using their skills, depending on the need of each piece.

Their work has been selected in 2015 and 2016 as Best of Milan Design Week and highlighted as Best of Maison et Objet Paris in 2015. In 2020 they were awarded winners of the emerging talent prize by Architectural Digest Middle East.
They have been published in CNN Style, the financial times, AD Europe among other remarkable magazines.

Working as a duo

They are currently collaborating with the fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana on a piece for their D&G casa, as well as taking part of an exhibition in MUDAC museum in Lausanne as part of “Beirut. The Era of Design”.
“Working together is always fun, and while communication is one of the main elements in our method, we can’t hide the fact that it sometimes gets messy, but it’s all part of the ride… We tried to work separately a few times [in the beginning] but we always ended up realizing that there was something missing.»

The Studio

The duo opened their studio Sayar & Garibeh, in Beirut, after developing their product design skills and exhibiting their work at a number of international fairs such as Aspen, Miami, NYC, Milan, Paris, London, Brussels, Beirut and Dubai.
It was only three years after graduating with a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture that they realized the necessity of designing together, since then, they’ve carved out a distinctive aesthetic, combining organic and geometric forms with traditional crafts and whimsical anthropomorphic touches.
