Willowy Chair

We call this design a daily stroll in Beirut alleys the way we see it.
After all the recent events that happened in Lebanon, this project was a chance for us to go back to our roots and to work with local resources such as materials, old crafts and artisans know how, and for one time maintain what we have and not searching outside; we found the execution of the piece more challenging, but it gave us the needed motivation.

In this design we have mixed an old Lebanese wicker technique with a new contemporary form. We wanted to push our ability to create an object that identifies what once left behind and reinterprets an existing cultural reference through a new perception of the materials , since the rope is naturally dyed with water based powder terracotta.
We have focused on reflecting the artisan language of an old craft and by manipulating it to fit our vision.
